  • Read any young adult or new adult book of your choosing; or,
  • Read a friends to lovers romance

The friends to lovers romance can be from any genre you choose, as long as contains the friends to lovers trope it fits the challenge. This trope is one of my favourites. I love that the characters already have a bond; they already know they like each other as human beings. What’s happening now is a different expression and deepening of that regard for they have for one another. And sexy times. Let’s not forget the sexy fun times.

Lets talk friends to lovers books

The friends to lovers trope can be divided further, normally on the length of time the characters have known one another. Like, childhood friends to lovers. For this challenge it doesn’t matter. The friendship then romance could develop during the book, or they already knew each other when the book started. All that’s important is that they became friends before the romance started.

I as excited when I landed on BFF’s house and saw that I needed to delve into some friends to lovers books. Then I actually started delving and it was a little overwhelming. There are a lot of books and the blurbs all blurred into one. I did eventually chose a book. What I’m reading…

I’m using the romanceopoly reading challenge to help me focus on my TBR. I am open to books that are completely new to me, but… I have so much on my TBR that I want to read but never seem to get around to. So, when I was scrolling through I saw that I hadn’t yet read Dr Strange Beard by Penny Reid. Even though Penny Reid is one of my favourite authors. It’s amazing what you can lose track of!

Dr Strange Beard is book 5 in the Winston Brother series, and is a childhood friends to lovers deal. If you haven’t read this series, I would recommend starting from book 1, Truth or Beard, which is a childhood enemies to lovers story. The hero has had an unrequited crush on the heroine for years…but he’s a boy and gets all dumb. And now she doesn’t like him and thinks he doesn’t like her. Oh the tangled webs we weave!

Pin it for later!
